Tom Olah: How did you first get into porn?
David Benjamin: First, thank you for allowing me to introduce
myself to the readers of GRAB Magazine. As
a newcomer to porn, I owe a huge debt of gratitude to GRAB owners Mark
Nagel and Stacy Bridges for allowing
me to participate in last year’s GRABBY Awards. That event was a blast
and helped launch this exciting and
rewarding new phase in my life. I first got into porn as a fan, but
like many, I believed “porn is for other people.”
I didn't know anyone who’d done it, didn't live in
an area where porn production was accessible,
and didn't think
I had the right look. So I put the thought aside and threw myself into
a professional career, far removed from porn.
Then, about a year ago, I went through a breakup and decided to make
some big changes in my life. I sent a few
pictures of myself to some of my favorite porn studios. When a few
showed interest, I contacted Ducati Models to
help represent me and navigate the porn world. They said yes, and
helped me book my first shoot for Hot House in May.
T.O: I can remember the first time I heard your name and it was from
Chi Chi LaRue and he wanted you to be a GRABBY
Trophy Stud. Chi Chi really liked you, so what was it like working with
D.B: Working with ChiChi was amazing. First, he has been an idol
of mine for years. I grew up in a time when
Chi Chi LaRue was synonymous with beautiful men and gay sex. So when I
got the chance to work with him, I jumped at
the chance to say yes. His directing style is awesome because he’s
been doing this a long time and knows what is needed.
But importantly, he gives performers space to bring their own
personality and color to the scene.
T.O: So who was the first person you had sex with when a camera was
D.B: My first scene partner was the very sexy Mitch Vaughn, in a
scene for Hot House. It was an amazing experience but
I was really nervous! When it came time for me to climax, I began to
panic a bit, but Mitch talked me off the edge, and
with his help I was able to finish the scene.
T.O: Was the first person you had sex with a boy or a girl? And how old
D.B: My first sexual experience was with a woman. I was 18 and a
freshman in college. She was a 19 year old transfer
student from Venezuela. I gave her the least fulfilling five and a half
minutes of her life ;-)
T.O: Are you a boxer or brief kind of guy?
D.B: Briefs or commando. Briefs offer more support but commando
T.O: First day on a set filming your first sex scene, what was it like?
D.B: Since my first scene took 8 days and three different scene
partners to realize, by the time we began filming, I felt an
immense sense of relief!
T.O: How many movies have you made so far?
D.B: As I write this, I have 7 scenes under my belt: one for Hot
House, two for Chi Chi, and four for Raging Stallion.
T.O: You recently became a Raging Stallion exclusive, what made you
sign on with them?
D.B: While attending this year’s GRABBYS, I was introduced to
Raging Stallion founder and CEO Chris Ward through my
agent, Trenton Ducati. I liked the man immediately, and I guess he saw
something in me because that night Trenton told me
that Raging Stallion wanted me to join them as an
exclusive! Raging Stallion was the studio I wanted to work with
one, and the chance to be an exclusive model with them was an honor
I couldn't pass up. Their aesthetic is mine:
gay, sexy, and powerful. They also have the best
team of professionals in the industry working for them, which
to me as a newcomer just building a name for myself.
T.O: Who is the fantasy porn star that you want to get naked with?
D.B: Tough question. There are so many. I've got a huge
hard-on for Jake Deckard, Ricky Sinz, Shawn Wolfe, and Boomer
Banks. My personal tastes run to men with sexual
experience, energy, and charism.
T.O: Does your family know about your porn career?
D.B: No, but since my face is on the cover of GRAB and we have
lots of family friends in Chicago, I’ll be having a conversation
with them sooner than later!
T.O: What did your friends say when they heard you were doing porn?
D.B: Most scratched their heads. I’m a 40 year old man who’s worn
suits to work for 20 years. Waking up one day and saying I’m
doing porn is akin to claiming I invented the semi-colon… it sounds
like nonsense! But since I've been doing it, I’d say 40% are
supportive, 50% don’t care one way or the other, and 10% have had
negative reactions. But in the end, as much as I love my
friends, their opinion of me is none of my business. This is my life,
not theirs. As long as I’m living in a way that is thoughtful,
honest, and personally rewarding, that’s what’s important to me.
T.O: Do you think your friends are watching your movies?
T.O: What can we look forward to be seeing you in?
D.B: My next feature to be released will be Falcon’s “Crave”
directed by Nick Foxx for Falcon Edge. The scene features me in a
flip with friend and fellow exclusive Brian Bonds.
T.O: Have you ever gone out with a fan?
D.B: Yes, I recently met with a young fan in NYC who had reached
out asking about my experience coming out. See, he is gay and
living at home with his father who didn't know. I told him
some of my story and how important it was for me that I build my own
as my own man, on my own terms. A few days later he messaged to say
he’d told his father and thanked me for helping him find the
courage and reasoning to do so! Now, I know his coming out to his dad
had very little to do with me, but the fact that I could help
(in some small way) was profoundly rewarding! Being a porn fan myself,
I understand that people enjoy not just the sex, but also the
radical independence and free-spiritedness that porn performers
represent. So when I get the opportunity to meet with fans and share
some of my story, I’m always excited to do so!
